Turkish Women’s League of America participated in Women, Peace, Security & Secularism program organized by Bircan Ünver, the president of the Light Millennium Organization. This event aims to support and create awareness on the United Nations Security Council Resolution #1325 on Women, Peace, Security in correlation with the concept of “Secularism.”
TWLA VII. Educational Panel: “What happened to the things that we eat everyday?
Dr. Gülsüm Eda Akbaş , gynecologist and obstetrician, presented her research on “What happened to things that we eat everyday?”
Dr. Gülsüm Eda Akbaş graduated from Üsküdar American High School in 1991. Dr. Akbaş completed her degree at Marmara University Faculty of Medicine in 1997. In 1999, she started to work as an assistant at the Department of Biochemistry of Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculty. A year later, she continued her education at Yale University School of Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology in the USA. Dr. Akbaş started to work as a research assistant at Yale University. This training journey was advanced with her training at the Cornell Medical School and Mount Sinai Medical School.
Currently Dr. Akbas serves as an obstetrician and gynecologist at Greenburgh Health Center, White Plains, NY. She is affiliated with White Plains Hospital and Westchester Medical Center.
