A short history of TWLA

The turning points that made the association what it is today.

  1. 1958 TWLA is founded The Turkish Women's League of America is founded in New York to bring Turkish women together and keep Turkish culture alive.
  2. 1971 The NY Atatürk School opens The weekend Turkish language and culture school opens, and has taught without interruption ever since.
  3. 2021 United Nations DGC association The application began in 2020 and the UN Department of Global Communications formally approved the association on 10 December 2021.
  4. 2025-2027 The current term The serving board works around education, women's rights and the sustainable development goals.
